Gaming Corner Saturday - A Visit to the Aradune Memorial
Gaming has been an important part of my life for a long time. I feel it provides both adventure, creativity, relaxation and, when necessary, an escape from everyday life. It can also help improve memory, communication skills and many other things.
Everquest was the original MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game) that I got started on. I did play computer games and on other game systems before then, but that was the first MMORPG.
Everquest was (and is) important to me in many ways. I won't go into too much detail here (you can read more about it on the blog), but that game and our beloved Missy, helped me through 2 pregnancies on extended bed rest for one thing.
The other day I decided to log in Kanweienea, my druid on the server Rathe-Prexus, to visit the memorial for Brad McQuaid. Mr. McQuaid was a video game designer. He had been part of the Pantheon team for years and he was the lead designer and producer for Everquest. His in-game character was Aradune Mithara.
The memorial is located in the Eastern Plains of Karana. I spent a few moments contemplating what the game had (and still does) mean to me and our family. Rest in Peace, Aradune.
